Tagbanua Tribal Communities of Northern Busuanga, Palawan

The tribes of the Tagbanua can be found in the central and northern part of Palawan. The Tagbanua tribes also believe in deities that they believe can be found in their surroundings. The Coral Triangle began working with the Tagbanua peoples organization to rebuild the Tending Island School in 2012 and have continued to engage on marine conservation, education, and alternative livelihood creation.

Beyond The Horizon

Starting from a base in Palawan in the Philippines, Beyond The Horizon will tell the dramatic present-day story of top scientists and engineers attempting to train up a local community in building new renewable energy infrastructure, off grid food production and marine regeneration solutions – in short, creating a repeatable model for sustainable living to be applied anywhere in the world.

We will also follow a highly experienced expedition team as they track down and document new waves to surf and in turn, help locals establish fresh revenue possibilities by generating responsible eco-tourism for the area. Throughout the series, the team will bring positive exposure to unexplored regions around the globe and its inhabitants seeking a new way forward to survive. Over a 1-year filming period, Beyond The Horizon will show how one island with a community of 50 desperate families suffering from poverty and the devastating effects of climate change can take back control and shape a new future – with improvements to their quality of life and a positive impact on biomass and biodiversity in the surrounding environment. Beyond The Horizon will be simulcast across linear, digital ott platforms and all social media channels.

Biota, Palau

Biota is advancing the aquaculture industry through daring innovation and a relentless commitment to protecting and restoring the ocean.

Biota has developed new ways of sustainably culturing fish, clams and corals for the global aquarium trade, food security, and conservation purposes.

Our philosophy is to give back to the ocean and take nothing from it.

Biota fish are raised in captivity at our marine life nursery and carefully acclimated for aquarium life. That means we – and you – don’t have to take fish from the wild.

We have already cultured collectively more than 100 different types of fish, including endangered species, rare and exotic species, and world-firsts such as the Borbonious Anthias, Bumphead Parrotfish and Clown Triggerfish.

Everything we do at Biota is aimed at leaving the ocean in a better state than we found it.
